Wet owl has arrrived

I just got my Goblet of Fire yarn...yay! Verrrry preeetty! I love the colors, perfect saturation hues.

I'm a little confused about the 'extra'....are they horns to wear? Dragon teeth? *is puzzled*

Hope everyone's having a nice holiday time - we're getting rained on at the moment, and we're supposed to get rain/ice/snow tomorrow night. Yech. Sounds like knitting weather to me.

Cheers!!

Different Sockitechture for POA socks?

Hello! I'm up this early 'cause I can't stop thinking about socks! XD

I'm nearly done my last pair of Christmas present socks (just gotta' BO the other side of the cuffs and sew in about.... 9 ends total on all the gifts- not bad, really) and I've been thinking for a while about how I want to work these Sirius socks.

I was very lucky to pick up Cat Bhordi's book at the end last month, and have been wanting to cast on just about anything from that book. I'm currently working on the little sky learning sock, which will be my first ever cuff-down sock.

Considering that this particular sock has a pattern down the side, I'd have to re-distribute the stitches on my circs to get the pattern just right, and yadda, yadda, yadda. That in and of itself almost seems intimidating, as I've never had to do that before.

So, the end question is this: do I modify Bartholemew's Tantalizing Socks with the Sirius pattern? Or not? (The pads at the bottom of the sock confuzzled me at first- I didn't realize they went on the bottom!) Thanks! :D

How is everyone doing?

I have one of the Sirius Black socks done and the 2nd one is on row 45 of the leg chart. My DD loves these socks and has claimed them for herself. They are sooooo soft!!! I hope to have them done by next weekend. However they are going in the box with her Christmas PJ's!

Have a great weekend & btw I can't wait for this months owl!

... WARNING OWL CRASH LANDING... SINGLE SURVIVOR

... Yes my OWL CRASH LANDED! The only survivor was the pattern and the to my dismayyyy the yarn has gone missing with NO HOPES of recovery. Rescue workers have no further leads.

It seems like the flap on the envelope did not stay closed and was lifted up, so the yarn slipped out and the pattern was able to hang on. Talk about an excitement crusher!!!! I went from elated running to the mail slot to dispair when I got closer and noticed the flat envelope and then picked up (extremely light) and found the torn and mutilated flap of the envelope just listlessly dangling... a very traumatic moment to say the least...

I contacted loops suggesting that the flaps be taped down for a more security in keeping their precious cargo secured during the flight...

The pattern is very sweet! So now I have to start thinking of magical yarn that is worthy of the pattern...

I am off to sulk for a bit in the magical archives of yarn...

I'm in love

The PoA colors are AMAZING. It's the kind of colorway I wouldn't be able to leave a yarn store without buying. And the bamboo is so soft and smooth. I'm really looking forward to seeing what kind of socks it makes. Never used a bamboo blend before.

The pattern is also really neat looking. Love the little pads of the soles :)

I'm working on the leg of the last Heir of Slytherin Coriolis, so I should be able to start the Sirius Socks right after. The pattern that came with the CoS yarn was needing too much tweeking to fit my crazy rectangle feet with super high instep, so what I'm making is the spiraling coriolis from the original Cat Bhordi book...I think I messed that up too, but I like what I did. The yarn is cozy warm.

Incredible!!

My package was waiting for me when I arrived home yesterday and all I can say is WOW!!! The colors are breathtaking, the pattern is intriguing and the yarn base is great! (yes, I want more of them) Well done, Carrie, well done :)

Heir of Slytherin Progress

Uh, not mine. But look at Cynically Pink's! And Joanne's!

(hope it's okay I'm linking--I'm so impressed)

Owls are landing

I got my owl today! It is gorgeous as usual! It is very stoft and the pattern looks great too. I am winding it into a ball right now. I just happen to have a set of #1's just waiting for a project! Thanks again Carrie!

Owls Set to Fly Saturday

Hi everyone! Yarn's all ready and patterns, too. Call up the postman and whoopee-doo! They'll be shipping out Saturday, so expect arrivals starting Monday. As you know, this shipment will be in the Bamboo blend. I need to order more yarn, so I'd love feedback on it. Wind it up and check it out and please take this survey. Looks like you have to click over to the blog itself to access the polls if you're like me and are married to Bloglines.

Every vote gets you an entry into a raffle for yarny goodness!! Step right up and cast your vote!! (Type your name into the "Other" section so I can count your entries up ;)

And while I'm ordering base yarn... another choice I can get and fits into the budget is a NON-SUPERWASH merino and silk blend. Pretty, glowy and soft, but not machine washable.

Anyone else

anxiously waiting the next owl? I love seeing the colors Carrie does they are fabulous. I have to confess I have not cast on either of the 1st 2 yet but I love looking at them in my basket and petting them! LOL I love the pod cast too Carrie!

Heir of Slytherin

Wow, this pattern is the most complex I've knit yet!  My first magic loop too, and I really love it!  I was getting kind of nervous with all of the one-sided increases, but now that I'm to the heel it's starting to make sense.  And my stitches didn't match up with the way the markers were placed on the instep, but when I transferred them to the sole needle they seem to match up just fine, so no worries!

Very Tired Owl

I got mine today!!! YaY!!! I've been so jealous reading about everybody else receiving their sock kits.... while I sit up here in Canada waiting, and waiting. But my owl finally arrived today! I think he must've been really tired from flying all this way because he didn't stay to chat. I heard a soft "thump" at my door this morning. I thought it sounded strange so I opened the door and my sock kit was there.... no mailman in sight, so it must've been an owl. ;-)

PSA - aka What Not To Do With Yarn!

Note to self and others:

Do not take your just-received Potter Covers yarn to work and leave out on your desk - people will walk by, see it, pet it, and ask for SOCKS. I work with several HP readers and they all want MY socks! Not gonna happen!!

Love the colors - and the little stitch marker-to-be - too bad I have 4 other pairs of socks in the queue right now, so it'll be a bit before I get to these! Thanks, Carrie!!

Mine came, too!

Carrie, what a cute pattern! I hope I can get my life organized enough to cast on soon. The little stitch marker is darling.

Spoiler at Vortex of Chaos.

Owl Arrived at the Office

The magic was with me today! I received 3 out of the 4 sock clubs I am in.

I have to admit it is like a holiday when I get packages at the office! Especially when it is yarn. I am so luvin' this color... I can't wait to cast on...

Now all I need is a time turner to help me knit more projects at once and not miss al the fun of knitting them...

Yeah!

Wow!

Mine came yesterday - I love the colors! And the pattern? Is one I've been dying to try!

Still, I must be good and finish the Sorcerer's Stone socks first, so it looks like these will have to wait a week or so.

Yay!

Beautiful yarn again! Just the colors I was hoping for. The pattern looks really exciting, too! Gotta admit, I'm a little nervous about doing my first toe-ups, but adventure is good, right?

WhoA-Ho!

The new yarn is absolutely beautiful! Thank you thank you, Carrie! I think I will now attempt my first toe up sock :)

I got an Owl

Whooo Hoooo Carrie!! I love love love the colorway! It is exactly what I would have done if I could dye yarn! And do you make the little extra's on the tag? This one is adorable too! We are going to have one cool set of stitch markers (if that is what you do with them)

I do want to let you all know that something strange happened with this delivery! My power went out & so I look out the window and I see my mail man pulling up to my mail box. Then after he put our mail in the box and pulled away from our house our power came back on! Weird Huh!

I love the pattern too! I just got this book last week and have been working thru the practice socks so I am really excited to do this pattern!

Are the Owls on their way?

Hopefully, it is time to be checking my mailbox for the next installment ;) I am anxious to see your interpretation of The Chamber of Secrets. (I have no doubts it will be great!)

Getting Excited

Hi, I'm new. Carrie let me in late.... thank you!
I'm from Canada (where the HP book covers are crappy) so I had to use this club as an excuse to pre-order the HP Boxed Set from the US..... yay.
I'm getting my first two sock club shipments at the same time. I'm very excited by what I've seen of your socks! I can hardly wait for mine to arrive.

Done mine!

Wow. I just finished a really gooshy post on my blog, and I think I might love these socks a little too much :P

Can't see from the picture, but I did the Eagle's Flight socks. My first ever lace-ish pattern! I had a lot of fun working with this yarn and I can't wait to see what Chamber of Secrets is going to look like. Thanks Carrie!

So here it is!

One Down

Hi All!
I have finished my first sock!  The second one will be done sometime next year :)  Anyway, I really would love to post pictures but I do not want to ruin anyone's surprise if they still haven't received their package.  If there is anyone that does not want me to post pictures yet, let me know.  If I don't hear anything within the next couple of days, I will post my picture.  Happy Knitting!

Thursday, September 27, 2007

Yea!!!

My package was waiting for me when I returned from DW. I love the yarn and the pattern. I can't wait to make them. The little extra is too cute. Thanks so much Carrie! Exquisite as always...I am so thrilled for you.

Happy Birthday to me!

I've had mine since the day before my birthday (what a good present!) I'm almost ready to start the heel and I just love the way the colors are working up. If anyone wants to see pictures, I have one posted on my Ravelry account. My screen name is yarnpie.

My package still hasn't arrived....I had to go to the LYS today to get my fix!! MC

DRAT DRAT

I am in Disney and don't know if I got my first shipment....something to look forward to next week....yippee for you who have received it. I can't wait.

Happy Day!

The colors are perfect...and I just love the little extra. Thanks so much Carrie! :) Actually, it arrived yesterday but I was busy winding it and working up a swatch last night. This is my first sock club and part of the reason for joining (other than the great Potter yarns) was to help get me out of my comfort zone and try some new patterns. So far, it sounds like it's going to be a FUN time!

I'm waiting on an order to arrive which includes some new size zero needles. I'm going to try to make some adjustments so it turns out closer to a size small. Wish me luck!!!

Got mine - wheee!

My package arrived yesterday, when I was home sick. There's nothing like yarn fumes to make a person feel better!

Unfortunately, I won't be able to cast on just yet - I'm finishing a different pair for myself first, then I'm making a pair for a Sockapalooza person who never got hers. But then? These will be next!

Jenny

No Mail Yet!

I haven't gotten my package yet! :-( Maybe today.....I can't wait. I have been in a knitting slump and I am sure this will ramp me up again. MC

Hello

I am new to this, both the blog part and the club part. I was so excited to get my package yesterday! The yarn is so soft! Fun to hear how many were eagerly waiting too. Have a great day everyone!

Got mine!

I love your interpretation of the Sorcerer's Stone cover, Carrie! Perfect for September, too.

It's Brilliant Carrie

The yarn and pattern is perfect for the Sorcerer's Stone; even more appropriate after reading the Deadly Hallows. I will re-skein it tonight and it will be OTN ASAP. Carrie, it is a "brilliant" start for the sock club :)

Such Beautiful Yarn!

My squishy little box arrived today :)
I just LOVE the colour scheme.... adorable "extra"
Can't wait to fire up the needles!

It's here!! :D

I was so happy to find the first sock club yarn in my mailbox today!! I've been so eagerly awaiting it!

Eeee! So soft, and squishy! And the co-ordinating tissue paper! ^_^ Nice touch! I even like the little extra you slipped in. ;3

I'm gonna' have to try hard not to knit this stuff up, as I've got at least two other pairs of socks to finish, plus work socks! :'( *sniff* I want to kniiiitttt it!!!

It's lovely!! :D

Beautiful!!

After spending the afternoon in the ER with my dd, who fell off the monkey bars at school and possibly has a slight fracture in her elbow. It was so nice to come home and find some yummy yarn in the mail box! It is gorgeous Carrie!! I can't wait to start the pattern! I love how you packaged it and the tag too!!!

So Excited!

Hey All, I am really excited about this group. I love knitting and I love Harry Potter. They are the only types of podcasts that I listen to. This is the first sock club that I have joined too. I hope we all have fun!! MC

Hi Everyone

I am so excited to get this yarn!!!! I can't wait to see it in color! I have made quite a few other Harry Potter items this year. It has been a lot of fun but I can't wait to make more! Right now I am working on a house sweather from Charmed Knits for my DD (griffindor colors) and I am getting ready to cast on for the bellatrix socks. (I think I may keep those!) Thanks for starting this blog for us to chat and show what we are doing.

Skeiny goodness

bw skeins

Hello

Hi, I am new to all of this...blogging and a sock club. I am so excited to see our first skeins of yarn. I have been stitching and creating all sorts of Harry Potter themed projects recently. It will be fun to hear/see what everyone comes up with for September.

Yay!

I'm really looking forward to this yarn!

It will probably be the only new sock yarn I purchase for the next couple of months, as I've had to go on as sock yarn diet. ^_^;;

I can't wait! I'm almost counting down the days!

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

OOooo. Neat.

Hi hi. This is a cool idea! Having a blog to go with the sock club will give me a good chnce to see what everyone else is doing with the perfectly good sock yarn I'm bound to butcher :P This is my first time doing the sock club thing, so I'm real excited!

I also didn't know we'd be getting patterns to go with the yarn! Awesome, since I collect sock patterns like some people collect stamps. Looking forward to seeing how the yarn turns out :)

Thanks

This is a great idea....looking forward to all the chatter...

Welcome!

Once I asked the question, people were clamoring for a blog for us to share our knitting from the Potter's Covers sock club from Cosmic Fibers.

I'll start with this little pic of what September's shipments look like now:
